Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester Elects New Officers at Annual Meeting

Mount Kisco, NY (July 20, 2009) – The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester recently elected four new officers at their annual meeting. Thomas A. O'Brien, Jr. (of Bedford), formerly Vice President of the Club's Board of Directors, has assumed the role of President. Kevin J. Bannon (of Mount Kisco), Stephen B. Harr (of Bedford), and Leslie Cecil (of Bedford) were named Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary respectively. The announcement was made by Brian Skanes, the Club's Executive Director.

Thomas O'Brien was a member of the Club during his childhood years in Mount Kisco. He returned to the Club in 1998 as a board member, serving on the Property Management and Kisco Kids Café Committees as well as chairing the Club's Alumni Committee and annual Superbowl Phone-a-thon. O'Brien's Mount Kisco-based firm, O'Brien Architecture, has been designing homes for over 20 years. He has also volunteered his services for a Habitat for Humanity project in Bedford. O'Brien is a graduate of Alfred State University and the University of Toronto. He follows Skip Beitzel, a thirteen-year board member and 2004 Humanitarian of the Year honoree, who served as Board President from 2007 to 2009.

Kevin Bannon has been a Club board member since 1992 and was recognized as the 2000 Humanitarian of the Year, the highest honor given by the Club to its supporters. Bannon is Chief Investment Officer of Highmount Capital, which he joined in 2008 following a 28 year career at the Bank of New York. He became associated with the Boys & Girls Club through his children who were active participants in the Club's gymnastics and swimming programs. Bannon has a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and received his MBA in Finance from the Stern School of New York University.

Stephen Harr has been a board member since 2002, and has served as Treasurer since 2004. Harr is retired from Pfizer, Inc., where he was Vice President for Strategic Planning. He received his undergraduate degree in Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon, and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. Harr has also been actively involved with Green Chimneys, SCORE, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Westchester, Bedford Women's Correctional Facility, and Temple Shaaray Tefila in Bedford.

Leslie Cecil has been an active board member of the Club since 1996. She serves on the Club's Executive Committee and has chaired the Program Committee for the last ten years. Cecil has been instrumental in ensuring the quality of services provided to Club members. She received the 2007 Humanitarian of the Year award for her dedication and service to the Club. She is currently a partner in LCCM, Ltd., which markets her husband, Creighton Michael's, artwork. Cecil graduated from Brown University with a BA in Art History.

"Each has a unique perspective and talents that make them a great asset to our organization. They have served tirelessly on our Board for years and we are privileged to welcome them in their new positions."
