Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester Receive $3,000 Grant from Hitachi America, Ltd.
Tarrytown, NY (December 3, 2008)— The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester recently received a $3,000 grant from Hitachi America, Ltd in Tarrytown. Children from the Club's Tarrytown Center visited the company's corporate office to meet with the company's Community Action Committee (CAC) members.
The company's CAC is comprised of employees who volunteer their time and identify priority issues in their communities. The CAC is solely responsible for reviewing grant proposals and deciding on both financial and volunteerism support provided to non profit organizations. The company's CAC focus is education.
"We are fortunate to have such gracious supporters to help fund our programs," said Brian Skanes, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester. "Hitachi's generous contributions have allowed us to maintain the Center's quality programs and expand our offerings to the children of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow."
The Center, which opened in 2002 at the Community Opportunity Center, serves approximately 800 children from low-income families. It provides a safe place to go after school, a warm meal, guiding hands, and a positive experience for its members.
The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester's Tarrytown Center is located at 105 Wildey Street, Tarrytown, NY. They can be reached at 914.586.0036 or by visiting www.bgcnw.com.
