Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester Welcomes Four New Yorktown Center Staff

Yorktown, NY (February 27, 2009) – The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester's Yorktown Center recently welcomed Andre Person (of White Plains), Anne Marie Vitale (of Yorktown), Christopher Marschhauser (of Yorktown), and Samantha Rodriguez (of Yorktown) to its staff. The announcement was made by Brian Skanes, the Club's Executive Director.

Andre Person joins the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester as the Yorktown Center Director. A lifelong resident of White Plains, Andre has a BS in Criminal Justice from Monroe College. A former intern at the Westchester County Department of Health and Westchester County Department of Probation, Andre worked for the Westchester County Youth Bureau as a Mentor and Counselor. He brings his experience in youth development, human services, and management skills to the Clubs' Yorktown Center.

Anne Marie Vitale, the Center's new Health and Life Skills Program Director, grew up in Mohegan Lake. She received a BA from Manhattanville College and will receive her Masters in Adolescence Education and Middle Childhood: Social Studies in May 2009. Prior to her position at the Club, Ann Marie mentored youth in the Coachmen's after school program.

Christopher Marschhauser was appointed as the Center's Recreation Director. A Yorktown High School graduate, Christopher is active in the local community and coaches basketball in the Yorktown youth sports program. He brings his love of sports, enthusiasm, and natural ability to relate to adolescents and teens to the Club's Yorktown Center.

A lifelong resident of Yorktown, Samantha Rodriguez became a member of the Yorktown Center as a 6th grader at Mildred E. Strang Middle School. Now a senior, Samantha is part of the Clubs' Junior Staff. She is also President of the Keystone Club, two-time Yorktown Center Youth of the Year, and a member of the Girl Scouts and Yorktown's Alliance for Safe Kids Youth Court. She serves as a role model and mentor for her peers and younger members of the Club.

The Yorktown Center was established September 1997 and serves Yorktown and its surrounding communities. Although it was originally established to serve high school youth, widespread community interest and support enabled the Center to also include the middle school population.
